WHAT WE BELIEVE

The teachers, administrators and staff at Lily Pond Child Development Centers are united in their belief that all children:

  • Have the power to learn

  • Learn best through positive relationships with caregivers

  • Are curious & creative

  • Can succeed

No two children have exactly the same skills or learning style. That’s why we tailor our child-centered environments and approaches to meet the individual learning needs of every child. We provide a balance between choice and structured activities, between group and individual learning, and between teacher-directed and child-directed experiences.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Beginning at birth, children communicate to engage the world around them.  Healthy social development, simply defined, is about the ability to interact successfully in relationships with others.  Our teachers provide children with nurturing support to develop the self esteem and communication skills necessary for a lifetime of healthy relationships. Your child will learn skills to express him or herself, care about others, be a good friend, and be a member of a group.

EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Children enjoy a safe, nurturing "home away from home" where they can learn to express and manage their feelings, and learn about themselves with others their own age.  Our goal is to help children to develop the emotional competence to forge trusting relationships and have fun just being themselves.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

We provide healthy snacks and meals, and follow strict health and safety practices that protect your child and create a safe place for play and exploration.  Plenty of physical play, both structured and unstructured, helps ensure that your growing child has a healthy body and develops healthy habits for a lifetime.

INTELLECTUAL DEVELOPMENT

Our program builds brain power by supporting the development of perception, memory, reasoning, thinking and language through age-appropriate cognitive activities.  Reading, writing and match are important skills that children learn through a mix of instruction and experiencing  the world around them.

Our expert teachers plan engaging lessons that meet state learning standards for social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.  We recognize, however, that curriculum is more that what appears in lesson plans.  We believe that curriculum is everything that happens in the classroom, from nurturing interactions and resolving conflicts to singing and playing: each experience is a rich opportunity for children to learn and grow.
